Oregano, Mexican, cut & sifted
Oh the challenge of Oregano! There are actually two dried herbs that carry that name. In Mediterranian cuisine, "oregano" refers to a member of the mint family that is a close relative of marjoram. But Mexican oregano, found in this pouch, is a member of the verbena family. Its flavor is close to that of its Old World twin, but is less sweet, with a stronger flavor profile and a hint of menthol. Which to get? If you're making spaghetti, the other one. Mole or posole? This one.
